What to compare
- Cost per load. Divide the price by the brand's own load count, and note that brands count loads differently (some count a half sheet as a load).
- Where it is made. Not every brand says. A US claim should mean all or virtually all of the product is made in the US.
- Ingredients. Look for a published list and a stated free-of list. Most sheets use polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) to bind the sheet; see the guide on plastic in sheets.
- Scents. If you need fragrance-free, check that the brand sells it.
- Certifications. EPA Safer Choice, USDA biobased and Leaping Bunny are independent marks. A brand can be good without them, but they are checkable.
- How you buy. One-time purchase, subscription, or in a store near you.
What independent testers found
Consumer Reports tested 14 laundry detergent sheets in 2026. As reported by House Digest, Tide evo Free & Gentle earned the highest overall score, Arm & Hammer Power Sheets ranked second, and Consumer Reports said sheets are not better than liquid detergent in all respects and should not be expected to tackle very dirty or stained clothes alone.
CNN Underscored named Spot the Best Budget Laundry Detergent Sheets in its own review and called Spot sheets very capable cleaners.
How the main brands differ
We compared Spot side by side with Earth Breeze, Tru Earth, Tide evo, Arm & Hammer Power Sheets, Seventh Generation and HeySunday, using each brand's own prices. Spot costs the least per load of all of them.
Spot at a glance: 15.8¢ to 16.7¢ per load depending on the bundle, free US shipping, made in Sweden, Fresh Linen scent, no subscription.
Getting good results from any sheet
- Put the sheet in the drum with the clothes, not against the washer wall.
- Use two sheets for heavily soiled or extra-large loads.
- Pre-treat stubborn stains as you would with liquid detergent.
